 bp_is_root_component() is still used in a few places within BP, and the
 function has been rewritten to do something akin to the old version, but
 compatible with our new setup. So I don't believe we can deprecate it. In
 an ideal world, we would clean this up more thoroughly, but given that
 it's working, I don't want to mess with it.
