 Thanks for looking into this.

 I have tested this with the BuddyPress Default 1.5.1 template and have the
 same result.

 I think it might relate to the sites being private. I am using Private
 Buddypress which means that only registered users for each sites can see
 the sub-sites. However I am not sure if this is the cause as when you
 change the 'order by' they appear.
