 I assume you mean 'widget', not 'plugin'?

 Your second point, about the ajax throbber, is already fixed.

 The first point, about the line height of span.activity, is well taken,
 but largely a matter of taste. I think the current setting is fine, and
 since it can easily be changed in a child theme, I don't see a compelling
 reason to add more styles to the default theme.
